11:15 Esmorzar a l' hotel.

11:15 We have breakfast in the Hotel.

12:00 Visitem el Call jueu.

12:00 We visit the Jewish quarter.

14:30 Caminem per la carretera de Tarragona fins al pont. Els carrers estan deserts. Parlo amb un senyor malagueny que m' explica que aquesta nit anirà a la processó. Ens trobem el Teo, un nen italià que te dotze germans i dotze anys i que li agradaria tornar a Milà, va en bicicleta de nen petit, ens diu que tothom està a la platja, a la Pineda.

14:30 We walk along the Tarragona road until we get to the bridge. The streets are desert-like. I talk to a man from Malaga who tells me he will go to the procession at night. We meet Teo, a twelve year old boy with twelve brothers. He is from Italy and rides a small bicycle. He tells us he would like to be back in Milan. He also tells us that everybody is gone to the Pineda beach.

 


16:40 Dinem al Restaurant Pulpo Gallego, l' únic que hem trobat obert.

16:40 We have lunch in Pulpo Gallego Restaurant, the only one open.

 

17:20 Descansem a l' Hotel i carreguem bateries.

17:20 We have a rest in the Hotel and charge the batteries..

18:30 De camí a la Capella de Sant Roc passem per una pista esportiva i pel barri de casetes amb pati. Més tard fotografiem alguns enderrocs de la part de la ciutat que havia estat industrial.


18:30 On our way to Sant Roc Chapel, we pass by a racetrack and the small terraced houses neighborhood. Later, we photograph some ruins in the industrial area of the city.

 

19:40 Prenem mesures de l' espai de la Capella i decidim solucions formals per a l' exposició.

19:40 We measure the Chapel and decide formal solutions for the exposure.

21:00 En sortir, ja és gairebé de nit. El carrer de la Cort està ple de gom a gom. Berenem un parell de dolços i enregistrem el flux de gent que camina cap a l' església.
Filmem l' interior de l' església de Sant Joan, els preparatius de la processó i les diferents germandats fins que ens fan fora del recinte.

21:00 Outside the Chapel, it is getting dark. The Cort street is packed full of people. We have an afternoon snack - a couple of sweets - and record the people flow going to the Church. We record the interior of Sant Joan Church, the preparations of the procession and the various brotherhoods until we are thrown out.

 

22:10 A la plaça del Blat s'hi troben els passos de la processó, enregistrem l' expectació del públic.
Al Cafè Bruch trobem a Miquel Mercè, reencarnació de Dalí a la terra segons ens diu. Duu barretina catalana, capa vermella, bigoti dalinià, anells a tots el dits i el pit decorat amb pins que fan referència al Pintor de l' Empordà i al Baix Camp. L' enregistrem i ens citem per diumenge, anirem a veure'l al seu estudi.

22:10 Blat Square. Float in Holy Week procession, with statues representing part of Easter story, we record the public.
In Bruch Café we find Miquel Mercè. Dali’s reincarnation, so he wears the typical Catalan hat, a red cloak, Dali’s typical moustache, a ring for every finger and pines printed on his chest alluding to the Emporda Painter and to Baix Camp. We record him and arrange to meet on Sunday; we will go to see him in his study.
                   

22:40 La marxa va molt lenta, així que decidim fer el recorregut previst i filmem els carrerons i places plenes de vallencs i turistes, gent amb cadires, nens jugant i avis que esperen pacients el pas de la processó.

22:40 The rhythm of the procession is so slow and we decide to take the planned route and record the streets and squares packed full of tourists and people from Valls; people sitting on chairs, children playing and the older people patiently waiting for the procession to pass by.


23:45 Sopem al Pizzamania

23:45 We have dinner in Pizzamania.


01:00 Ens fiquem al llit baldats.

01:00 Shattered, we go to bed.
